What is the Rep-Council?
What is the Executive
Committee?

Rep-Council
-The Representative Council
Meetings are scheduled for information sharing from the NJEA.
The latest in information be it Legislative Government,
Department of Education, Pension and Benefits, other State agency
information, and NJEA information is presented to the group. This is
the policy-making body of the SCEA. It shall serve as
the forum for the presentation of local associations and other
educational needs and it shall provide in conjunction with the NJEA
and NEA, programs to meet those needs and, in doing so the Council
shall also:
- nominate officers according to the procedures
- Adopt an annual program
- Approve the annual budget, set annual dues
- Act on reports and recommendations of the
Executive Board
- Issue Policy Statements
- Approve resolutions
- Authorize employment of staff and office
facilities.
- Adopt an appropriate Code of Ethics and
provide for its implementation
- Adopt rules for conducting Council meetings
- Exercise those posers not delegated to the
Executive Committee officers, or groups of the Sussex County
Education Association, Inc.
- Recall any elected SCEA officer in accordance
with the procedure outlined in the constitution.
- Set the financial fiscal year.
- Establish requirements for local associations
affiliating with the Sussex Count Education Association Inc.
Who should attend?
Each association from each school district should
send a representative to this meeting to receive the information.
This information should be presented to the local association
executives for review and action if needed.

| Executive
Committee - The Executive Committee
includes all the SCEA officers and all those appointed to NJEA
committees. These meetings are a sharing of information
gathered by each NJEA committee member. Members authorize all
expenditures, carry out policies established by the Representative
Council, reports its transactions and those of the Council to
the members, and suggest policies for consideration by the council.
Who should attend?
Each member of the executive committee should attend meetings as
they are responsible for the management of the Sussex County
Education Association Inc.
